Anita Saarkessian

Anita Sarkeesian is a Canadian-American feminist media critic and public speaking. Feminist Frequency hosts videos, commentaries and analysis of how popular culture depicts women. Anita Sarkeesian is an award-winning feminist journalist from Canada and a blogger. Feminist Frequency investigates how women are depicted in popular culture. Aiming to break down the stereotypes associated with women in pop culture she also is a vocal advocate for issues relating to harassment targeted at women as well as other classes of people in the online space. Sarkeesian holds a bachelor's degree in social thought and politics from York University. She is an extremely well-respected and respected public speaking. Sarkeesian has given speeches at the TEDxWomen Festival as well as to the United Nations Broadband Working Group. Passionate about issues of gender identities and feminisms from an early age she launched her website Feminist Frequency in 2009 while still a student at the University. It was a girl with a dream to develop the series of videos on the internet to examine the gender representations in video games. But, she was victimized by online harassment. This attack was not enough to halt her. It actually increased her importance as a feminist and media critic. Numerous awards have been awarded to her for all of the contribution she has contributed to. Anita Sarkeesian was a multi-award winning media journalist. She is also the director and founder of Feminist Frequency an educational and non-profit group that focuses on pop-culture representations of females.
